sliding fee policy.

At Adorn Therapy and Consulting, we believe that access to quality mental health care is a right—
not a privilege. While we are a business, we are also a values-driven organization
committed to equity, transparency, and community care. As such, we offer a limited
number of reduced-fee (sliding scale) therapy slots based on identified financial need,
not income verification.
Eligibility and Process:
Sliding scale spots are available to clients who are experiencing financial hardship, lack
adequate insurance coverage, or are in a transitional life phase (e.g., between jobs, newly
single parents, students, etc.). Eligibility is determined collaboratively between the client
and therapist, based on a good faith conversation about current financial barriers to care.
We do not require tax returns, pay stubs, or other invasive income documentation. Our
approach centers dignity and assumes honesty.
Fee Structure:
Reduced rates are determined on a case-by-case basis and are subject to periodic review
(typically every 6 months). Clients are encouraged to inform us if their financial situation
changes. Continued access to sliding scale services may be adjusted accordingly to allow
us to equitably serve others with similar need.
Ethical Foundation:
This policy aligns with the NASW Code of Ethics, which states that social workers should
"assist clients in obtaining needed services through available resources" and “ensure
access to services for people who are disadvantaged or vulnerable.”
It is also consistent with the ACA Code of Ethics (A.10.c.), which urges counselors to
"consider the financial status of clients and the locality’s economic standards when
establishing fees" and to avoid financially exploiting clients.
Limitations:
• Sliding scale spots are limited and not guaranteed.
• We reserve the right to prioritize access for individuals who hold marginalized identities or face systemic barriers to care.If you’re interested in exploring a reduced rate, please let your therapist know during your consultation. We’ll do our best to accommodate your needs or provide appropriate referrals
